Thaba Manzi Ranch is an exclusive 2000-acre property situated in the heart of the Magaliesberg, just 65 minutes from Johannesburg, South Africa. The ranch encompasses two and a half kilometers of cliffs, kloofs, and mountain forest, offering visitors a perfect escape from urban life.
The property functions as both a game and cattle ranch, featuring indigenous Nguni cattle and Pedi sheep that graze alongside diverse wildlife including hartebeest, eland, gemsbok, nyala, zebra, blesbok, and giraffes. The working ranch also maintains dairy cows for fresh milk production, chickens for eggs, and grows seasonal vegetables and herbs.
Accommodation consists of four self-catering cottages: Peacock, Lavender, Loerie, and Lilac. Peacock and Lavender are one-bedroom cottages that sleep four, while Loerie and Lilac are studio cottages sleeping two. Each cottage features Victorian slipper baths, double showers, fully-equipped kitchens, and private braai (barbecue) areas. All accommodations offer covered stoeps (porches) with stunning mountain views.
The ranch provides various activities for guests, from relaxation to more active pursuits such as hiking, game viewing, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, and bird watching. Visitors can explore numerous internal cycling and walking trails, and enjoy evening braais accompanied by the natural sounds of the bush, including calling jackals. Additional wildlife frequently spotted on the property includes impala, baboons, warthogs, and vervet monkeys.
With its combination of comfortable accommodation, diverse wildlife, farming activities, and recreational opportunities, Thaba Manzi Ranch offers an authentic South African country experience that keeps guests returning.
