Thabametsi Farm, meaning "Mountain Water," is a self-catering getaway located over an hour's drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Nestled between two koppies with views of the Witwatersrand Mountains, the property features both agricultural and wilderness areas, providing a unique environment that supports diverse wildlife including squirrels, monkeys, buck, mongoose, porcupines, jackals, civets, and a resident serval.
The accommodation options include two bungalows, each featuring three double rooms, and several cottages. Owl Cottage accommodates up to three guests with a king-size bed that can be converted to two three-quarter beds, while Lavender Cottage houses up to five guests with valley views from its covered veranda. All units come fully equipped with DSTV, indoor fireplaces, heaters, electric blankets, and complete kitchen facilities, with undercover parking provided.
The farm offers extensive recreational facilities including a solar-heated swimming pool, exercise room with cardio equipment, entertainment area, children's games setup, jungle gym, trampoline, and obstacle course. Additional features include a fantasy garden and a labyrinth for contemplation. Activities range from nature walks and bird watching to cycling, with a dedicated kids' bicycle track available.
Farm activities include tractor cart rides, pony rides, and complimentary donkey cart rides.
