Thakadu Self-Catering Accommodation

Thakadu Self-Catering Accommodation is a lodge located 14 km from Naboomspruit, established in 1995 by developing 1,075 hectares of indigenous bushveld in an enclosed nature conservation area. It is situated in the heart of a biosphere reserve in the Waterberg Mountains, bushveld, and savannah region of the Limpopo Province. The area is known for its rich and remarkable ecosystem, which is free of malaria, and is a premier wildlife area and sanctuary for rare and endangered animals such as rhinos.

The lodge offers an abundance of game for guests to view, including plains game like eland, impala, waterbuck, zebra, blesbuck, blue wildebeest, bushbuck, warthog, bush pig, red hartebeest, giraffe, as well as rare species like hippos, sable, nyala, and tsessebe. Additionally, there are over 270 spectacular bird species for bird-lovers.

Accommodation is offered in quality, well-equipped chalets located in a tranquil bushveld atmosphere. The rock chalets are built in the indigenous bush, providing guests with privacy while being within 200 meters of the main lapa. Each chalet contains a kitchenette, lounge, and private braai area, and all bedrooms are equipped with fans.

African cuisine is served in the main lapa next to the swimming pool, offering a view of the African bush and allowing guests to experience the sounds of African nightlife. Local specialties include venison from the farm, homemade preserves, mouth-watering traditional dishes, and local drinks.

Guests at Thakadu Game Lodge can enjoy various activities, such as game drives, hiking, birding, or relaxing by the swimming pool. They are also welcome to bring bicycles to ride through the bush. The lodge offers an intimate and private bushveld wedding experience with tranquility, superb accommodation, and exquisite cuisine.

The chalets are private and have a full view of nature. There are four golf courses nearby, including Naboomspruit Golf Course, Ephoria Golf Course, Entabeni Golf Course, and Potgietersrus Golf Course. The lodge has two swimming pools, a small play park for children, and roads suitable for family hikes with small children and bicycling.
