The Acorn Cottage - Fernwood

The Acorn Cottage - Fernwood is located within the lush and tranquil suburb of Newlands in Cape Town. It offers comfortable accommodation to guests and serves as an ideal base for business travelers or small families visiting Cape Town. The cottage is situated behind the main house and features one en-suite bedroom. The lounge area includes a sleeper couch suitable for a child. Guests can prepare meals in the kitchenette and enjoy them in the dining area or the outdoor space.

The outdoor area consists of an enclosed patio with braai facilities and a relatively private space beyond. Visitors can access the swimming pool and appreciate mountain views from the front of the property. The cottage provides a TV with basic SABC channels, a DVD player, and some DVDs, but no DSTV. Wi-Fi is available for guests.

It is important to note that the owners have a dog, an enthusiastic puppy, who stays close to the main house. Guests should be aware of this and should not be afraid of dogs.

Nearby attractions include various well-known pubs and restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. Guests can visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, the Constantia wine route, and the Table Mountain National Park. The seaside suburbs of Muizenberg and Simons Town are also easily accessible by car.

Guests are permitted to use the swimming pool, which features a sturdy child-safety cover at all times. The property is close to a kids play park, and a riverside picnic spot is within a short walking distance, where guests can bring buckets and nets. Children under 5 years old stay free, with a maximum of two children.

The one-bedroomed stand-alone cottage features a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom and one further 3/4 bed in the open-plan lounge/kitchenette area.
