The Gaia Sanctuary is a serene off-grid organic working farm located in Buffeljagsrivier, Western Cape, South Africa, positioned approximately 20 minutes from Swellendam town centre. The property sits along the banks of the Breede River, offering spectacular views of the Langeberg Mountain Range and is accessible within 2.5 hours from Cape Town or 2 hours from George.
The sanctuary provides various accommodation options including an A-frame cabin, boho bell tents, and an off-grid campsite. The A-frame cabin features a queen-size bed in the loft, two single sofa beds, a private compost toilet, and a kitchenette with gas cooking facilities. A deck with chairs and a hammock complements the cabin. The bell tents offer either twin or double bed configurations with basic amenities, while the campsite requires guests to bring their own equipment.
All guests have access to shared facilities including communal ablutions with showers and flushing toilets. A central glamping deck overlooks the river and provides a communal kitchen with gas cooking facilities, dining area, and braai (barbecue) facilities. A children's jungle gym is situated near the fire pit area, making it suitable for family gatherings and celebrations.
