The Oak Bed & Breakfast

The Oak Bed & Breakfast is situated in Fort Beaufort in the Eastern Cape, in the heart of the Citrus Producing Katriver Valley. It offers warm hospitality with the ambiance of old world charm in the scenic surroundings of Fort Beaufort. The establishment is located within a stone's throw from Hogsback, Grahamstown, Fort Hare University, East London, and Port Elizabeth.

The hosts, George and Theresa, offer seven double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, as well as one self-catering family unit featuring a lounge, an en-suite bathroom, and a kitchenette. Secure off-street parking and hearty breakfasts served in the main dining room are available. Dinners are served upon request. The rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated with handmade quilts, and they are equipped with TVs, fridges, heaters, clock/radio alarms, and hostess trays.

The historical town of Fort Beaufort dates back to 1822 when a frontier post was established by Lt. Col Scott. The town was occupied by the British army until 1870. Historical sites to visit include the Martello tower, now a national monument established in 1837, featuring a mounted cannon that pivots through 360 degrees, thought to be one of the only two in the world, with the other located in Canada.
