The Old Trading Post

The Old Trading Post is a charming accommodation establishment situated approximately 6km from Wilderness in the Lakes District. This historical property, which formerly served as a General Dealer Store, is now a peaceful retreat surrounded by natural beauty and abundant birdlife. Located within the Wilderness National Park, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the Garden Route's attractions and beaches, with convenient access to golf courses from Mossel Bay to Plettenberg Bay.

The establishment offers both bed and breakfast and self-catering options across four rooms/units and two luxury tented (glamping) units, accommodating up to sixteen guests total. The accommodation options include Strelitzia Cottage, a one-bedroom unit with additional bunk beds; The Garden Room, featuring a double bed and kitchenette; Lara's Room, with a double bed and bath; and The Tin Room, offering two single beds. The glamping options consist of Woodcutter's Bush Camp, featuring two safari tents on wooden decks, and The Nest, a bell tent overlooking the valley and lake.

Each unit is well-equipped with modern amenities, including en-suite bathrooms, TVs, fridges, and tea/coffee facilities. The property offers activities such as bird watching, hiking, canoeing, and power boating on nearby Island Lake.
