The Pennefather

The Pennefather is located within walking distance of shops and restaurants in Haenertsburg Village, and serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding areas of Magoebaskloof. It offers an opportunity to relive the atmosphere of a bygone era, with grandma's bread pans, gold miner's tools, and old books that tell tales of old times on display.

The property features three trading posts and six self-catering cottages. The luxury cottages are named after well-known personalities who shaped the history of Haenertsburg in the early nineteen hundreds. The two trading posts are named after gold-mining companies, and both buildings were constructed in a style reminiscent of that time period, allowing visitors to browse through the trading posts filled with an old-world charm.

One of the trading posts, Never Despair, is a nostalgic shop that stocks a good range of selective antiques, collectibles, and gifts. Another trading post, New Found Out, offers a lovely jumble of colorful clothing, shoes, and interesting accessories. Memory Hold-The-Door is a second-hand bookshop that invites visitors to sit down in front of the fireplace with a book on their lap. The coffee shop leads onto an outside patio and offers delicious homemade sweet and savory treats.

The Pennefather is pet-friendly, with linen and towels provided in the accommodations. Each accommodation has a bathroom with a shower, a fireplace with starter wood, and is fully equipped with crockery and cutlery for two people. A beverage pack is provided upon arrival, and each unit features a table-top cooker with an oven and microwave. Additional facilities are available upon request.
