The Pongola Express Camp

The Pongola Express Camp is a historic site consisting of 1934 SAR carriages that were relocated to their current location in the 1960s as a weekend retreat. The carriages have since been renovated and now serve as the hub for the Num-Num five-day trail, as well as other hiking trails lasting two, three, and four days on the estate.

The camp comprises seven compartments that can accommodate a total of 20 berths, with each compartment sleeping one to four people. It features amenities such as a kitchen, a bar, a braai area, and a shop, making it an ideal starting or ending point for any hike. Hikers are required to bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels.
