The Ritz Beach Cottage

The Ritz Beach Cottage is situated on the beach in Blythedale, offering unobstructed sea views. It is located within a short distance from the beach, allowing guests to easily access the shoreline by walking through the dunes in the front garden. The beach is a serene and uncrowded stretch, featuring rock pools and gullies to explore during low tide. Blythedale is a beach paradise where visitors can walk for miles along the beach without encountering many people. The beach is dog-friendly, and The Ritz Beach Cottage also welcomes pets, making it ideal for leisurely walks with dogs at sunrise or sunset.

The property is elevated, providing panoramic views of the waves and sea from various vantage points, including the lounge, bedrooms, wooden deck, and swimming pool. This makes it an ideal spot for whale and dolphin watching. The sound of the waves provides a soothing ambiance, conducive to a relaxing deep sleep at night.

The main house comprises three bedrooms: two with king-size beds and down duvets, and one with two single beds that can be combined into a king-size bed. The main bedroom is en-suite, while the other two bedrooms share a family bathroom and separate toilet. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, and linen is provided, but towels are not included. The house can accommodate up to six guests.

The kitchen is modern and well-equipped with high-quality appliances, including a gas cooker, extra-large thermofan oven, granite countertops, microwave oven, double-door fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machines. The open-plan lounge, dining room, and bar area feature sliding glass doors that open onto the front verandah, covered wooden sundeck, swimming pool, and entertainment patio, offering uninterrupted sea views. Amenities such as a Hi-Fi system, TV with Netflix, and Wi-Fi are available, and an inverter ensures the TV, Wi-Fi, and alarm system remain functional during power outages.

The property also features a double lock-up garage beneath the house, a built-in braai (barbecue) area next to the pool, and automated entrance gates and garage doors for easy access. A separate self-contained garden cottage is available for larger groups, consisting of two bedrooms (one air-conditioned), a lounge, kitchenette, and bathroom with a toilet and shower.

Blythedale Beach is known for its low crime rates, but the property is secure and equipped with an alarm system linked to 24-hour armed security. A daily cleaning service is available upon request and is mandatory for stays longer than four nights, at least once every two days.

Situated 72 kilometers north of Durban on the Dolphin Coast, Blythedale Beach is a small community with excellent beaches and an unspoiled coastline. The area offers various outdoor activities, including fishing, musselling, crayfishing (with appropriate licenses), exceptional whale-watching from July to November, and a year-round resident population of bottlenose dolphins. Nearby attractions include outstanding golf courses, shopping centers in Ballito, the bustling town of Stanger with Shaka's Memorial, the Lake St. Lucia World Heritage Site, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, and a crocodile farm at Sheffield Beach.
