The Tuscan Garden

The Tuscan Garden is an exclusive boutique-style guesthouse located in the town of Newcastle, in the luscious northern part of KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. The guesthouse was designed by the owner and his wife, inspired by their travels across Europe and other continents over a period of more than 25 years. The garden's layout is reminiscent of the age-old gardens found in the beautiful countryside of Italy, and was further inspired by a special journey through Hungary and the beautiful garden settings on the grounds of the Budapest Palace.

The Tuscan Garden, including the main home, was constructed over many years. The result is a beautiful home set amidst "The Tuscan Garden," offering three exclusive, intimate, and romantic rooms available on a booking-only basis. As guests enter the home, they are greeted by a fusion of exquisite cultural designs from various countries across the globe. The reception and interior welcome visitors in a truly East African style, featuring memorabilia from the Masai people brought back from Kenya, where the owners have a Bible College.

The reading lounge features colorful hardcover books, hinting at the travels to far-off places visited over the years. Guests can enjoy a complimentary cup of Nespresso coffee in this area. Throughout the garden, hidden corners offer opportunities to relax in the company of many birds or unwind in the outside entertainment area or on a lounger in the pool area. The town of Newcastle, located at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains, was the fourth British settlement in Natal and was founded in 1864 as a regional trade center.

The guesthouse provides a feeling of days gone by, with furnishings such as a new technology hospitality mattress dating back more than 100 years, a wall stand in the passage from the same time period in the Smithfield district, and an antique bath.
