The property, whose name means "in the shade" in isiXhosa, is nestled within a 44-hectare private valley overlooking the De Stades river wetland.
The lodge offers various accommodation options including one and two-bedroom chalets, a superior suite, and a three-bedroom family chalet, all featuring fully-equipped kitchens and private balconies with forest views. The property boasts rich biodiversity, hosting over 352 bird species and various wildlife including bushbuck, blue duiker, and vervet monkeys. Guests can explore the indigenous coastal forest through walking trails, enjoy bass fishing, or participate in activities such as canoeing, sand boarding at the nearby Giant Sand Dunes, and picnicking.
Facilities include the "lazy-lizard" swimming pool, hot tubs in selected chalets, and spa treatment services offered in the privacy of guests' accommodations. The lodge's proximity to the Maitland Nature Reserve provides access to three nature trails ranging from three to eleven kilometers, with the Maitland Beach just two kilometers away.
While offering a secluded nature experience, the lodge maintains convenient access to modern amenities, with shopping malls and attractions within a 15-minute drive. It is also strategically located 50 minutes from Addo Elephant National Park and an hour from Shamwari Game Reserve, where visitors can experience Africa's Big 5.
