Thuru Lodge & Safaris is part of the Kalahari Reserve, which consists of approximately 45,000 acres owned by Hennie Gous and his family. The reserve has a unique variety of vegetation types, broadly classified into Nama Karoo, Kalahari, and Karoo mountain vegetation. This wide range of veld types creates a rich biodiversity, providing suitable habitats for a wide variety of fauna and flora.

The lodge is located in the Northern Cape Province, approximately 100 km southeast of the town of Upington, between the southern latitudes of 28u00b053' and 28u00b059' and the eastern longitudes of 21u00b042' and 21u00b049' in the Nama Karoo Biome. It offers eight luxurious air-conditioned double rooms with crisp white linens, spacious en-suite bathrooms, satellite TV, internet connections, telephones, minibars, and underfloor heating.

The lodge features a private lounge, trophy room, poolside restaurant and bar, serenity spa, and lapa, ensuring comfort and a memorable stay in a true hospitable South African fashion. It is an upmarket private lodge where true South African cuisine, prepared by an in-house chef with a distinctive local flavor, is served. The lodge is fully catered with trackers and cleaning staff.

Additional facilities at Thuru Lodge & Safaris include cold rooms, an abattoir, trophy preparation room, meat processing room, swimming pool, and braai area. The lodge has a landing strip for the convenience of arriving by charter plane. The landing strip, with ground service, is 800m in length and 20m in width, with a north-east to south-west direction. Its GPS coordinates are 28 degrees 54.674 south and 21 degrees 46.797 east. A warning is given about a 320m height tower located at GPS coordinates 28 degrees 52.980 south and 21 degrees 44.164 east.
