Transkaroo Adventures

Transkaroo Adventures is a tourism company that has been providing visitors with unique opportunities to experience the most breathtaking and surprising scenes in the Upper Karoo region since 1993. It is located approximately 750 km from Johannesburg and Cape Town, on the N10 route between Middelburg Eastern Cape and Hanover in the Northern Cape, under the Noupoort area.

The company offers farm-style accommodation in restored farmhouses that are suitable for self-catering farm holidays or overnight stays. There are two fully equipped farmhouses and overnight huts that can accommodate up to 12 guests per facility. These accommodations are designed for hikers, 4x4 visitors, and others seeking a rustic getaway.

Middelburg, where Transkaroo Adventures is situated, lies in the middle of its surrounding towns, approximately 100 km from Graaff-Reinet, Cradock, Steynsburg, Colesberg, Richmond, and Hanover. The town's name, "Middelburg," reflects its central location, as it is halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town, as well as between Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth.

The R56 route serves as a gateway between the Western Cape and Kwazulu-Natal Provinces, and it is the shortest route between these provinces. The R56 route begins in Middelburg and ends in Kokstad, passing through towns such as Steynsburg, Molteno, Dordrecht, Ugie, Elliot, Maclear, and Matatiele.

Transkaroo Adventures offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a getaway in an old farmhouse situated at the foot of a mountain, surrounded by trees. The farmhouse has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a braai area. Visitors can take walks up the "kloof" or enjoy the beautiful garden.
