Traveller's Joy

Traveller's Joy is a guesthouse located in Colesberg, which is situated halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg, making it an ideal stopover for weary travelers. The house, which was originally constructed in 1840 and restored in 2005, is a part of the national heritage. Despite its historical significance, the interior of the house has been modernized to provide guests with en-suite rooms, separate outside entrances, and private patios, ensuring privacy for each guest.

The spacious rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as tea and coffee facilities, refrigerators, air conditioning, SABC channels, and DStv channels. The accommodations are furnished with comfortable double and queen-size beds, ensuring a luxurious stay. The guesthouse also offers a family unit consisting of two interconnecting rooms, one with three single beds and the other with a double bed, complete with an en-suite bathroom. Additionally, there is an executive unit, known as the Sun Room, which is a large, spacious room featuring a queen-size bed, a single bed, a mini lounge suite, a TV, a refrigerator, a microwave, and air conditioning. This unit also includes a breakfast nook, limited cutlery, and a sink area.

Traveller's Joy provides secure off-street parking for guests. The guesthouse is within walking distance of various restaurants, allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely stroll after a long journey. The name "Traveller's Joy" is derived from a wild plant called Clematis Brachiates, known for its healing powers and ability to soothe tired muscles. This reflects the guesthouse's aim to provide a pleasant stay and ensure that guests are well-rested before continuing their journey.
