Tshikwalo Game Lodge

Tshikwalo Game Lodge is situated within the malaria-free Dinokeng Game Reserve, the first free-roaming Big-5 game reserve in Gauteng. Located just 30 minutes north of Pretoria and 60 minutes from O.R. Tambo International Airport and Johannesburg, the lodge derives its name from the Monkey thorn (Acacia galpinii) tree, known as Tshikwalo in Venda.

The property offers diverse accommodation options, including standard chalets, luxury family units, and guest houses. The five standard chalets accommodate two guests each, featuring private patios and braai areas overlooking the bushveld. Three luxury chalets cater to families, with king-size beds and sleeper couches. Additional options include a two-bedroom chalet with a private boma, a ten-sleeper unit with four bedrooms, and two guest houses - the main guesthouse with 10 bedrooms and Munanga Guest House with 11 en-suite rooms.

The lodge provides comprehensive facilities including a restaurant offering wine and gin tasting experiences, conference venues accommodating up to 60 people, and various outdoor activities. Game drives are available for visitors to experience the wildlife of Dinokeng Game Reserve. The venue is also equipped for weddings and corporate events, featuring a fully fitted kitchen, dining hall, central boma, and swimming pool.

Recent wildlife developments at the reserve include the successful rehabilitation of eight cheetah cubs, the introduction of a new male lion named Samara from the Eastern Cape, and the acquisition of a new female leopard.
