Tswalu Kalahari Reserve stands as South Africa's largest private wildlife reserve, offering an exclusive wilderness experience on the southernmost edge of the Kalahari. The reserve encompasses the landmark Korannaberg mountains, arid savannah, and distinctive ochre dunes, providing a true wilderness setting for unhurried safari experiences.

The reserve operates three luxury safari camps - The Motse, Tarkuni Homestead, and Loapi Tented Camp - accommodating a maximum of 40 guests across all facilities. The Motse features nine elegant legae (suites) constructed from desert sand, rock, and thatch, while Tarkuni Homestead offers five luxurious en-suite bedrooms in a private setting. Loapi Camp provides a unique tented safari experience with individually serviced homes, each featuring private butler and chef services.

At its core, Tswalu is an ambitious conservation project focused on sustainable safeguarding of vital habitat and biodiversity restoration. Each booking includes a private safari vehicle, guide, and tracker, allowing guests to explore at their own pace. Activities include meerkat encounters, nature walks, tracking, horse riding, stargazing, and opportunities to engage with visiting researchers and artists.

The reserve is home to diverse wildlife, including black-maned lions, cheetah, black rhino, oryx, and wild dog, as well as elusive nocturnal creatures such as pangolin, aardvark, and brown hyena. More than 220 bird species can be observed within the reserve.

As a member of The Long Run and part of Oppenheimer Generations, Tswalu's sustainable tourism model supports conservation efforts while positively impacting local communities. The reserve maintains a health care center serving approximately 1,000 people within a 100-kilometer radius. The project demonstrates a commitment to leaving a positive impact on both the natural environment and local communities through its four key benchmarks of conservation, community, culture, and commerce.
