Tugela Rapids

Tugela Rapids is a rustic, self-catering retreat located on the banks of the Tugela River in the Bergville district of KwaZulu-Natal. It is situated on a working farm where beef, sheep, vegetable, and crop farming activities take place. The farm is positioned off the R74, between the farming villages of Bergville and Winterton, which offer basic shopping needs.

The accommodation comprises a self-catering unit that can accommodate up to eight guests. The unit features two separate bedrooms, each with sleeping arrangements for four guests in a loft-style setup, with two guests downstairs and two guests upstairs. The bathroom facilities include an ablution block with two toilets and a shower, and the water is heated by gas. A solar lighting system is also in place.

The retreat features a lapa with a deck overlooking the river, which serves as a kitchen and social area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and a gas fridge with deep freeze space. Additionally, there is an indoor barbecue as well as an outdoor barbecue area for relaxed entertaining.

It is important to note that the minimum rate for any party of four persons or less for one night is R380 per person per night. Guests are advised that any activities undertaken at the retreat are at their own risk, and the management is not responsible for any injuries.
