Umtendwe Beach Cottages

Umtendwe Beach Cottages is situated in a private Wild Coast paradise where the Umtendwe River meets the ocean. The establishment consists of two self-catering units that can be rented as a whole or individually. Each unit can accommodate eight guests, making them perfect for group getaways such as family holidays, reunions, friends' holidays, or corporate retreats.

The cottages are surrounded by a milkwood and river forest, beaches, green hills, and a small private lagoon located just a few strides away. Activities available in the Umtendwe Nature Reserve include walking, surfing, playing or relaxing on the beach, swimming in the sea or small lagoon, fishing, and photography. Nearby attractions within walking distance include Treasure Beach, Double Mouth, and the Black Rock viewpoint. Golf and horse riding are also available within easy driving distance.

The two spacious thatched lodges feature roomy, rondavel-style bedrooms linked to double-volume living areas. Each of the two units has three double bedrooms, each with private aspects and bathrooms with showers. The buildings are fully equipped for self-catering and are finished in harmony with the environment, in a distinct African style. Bedding is supplied, but guests are required to bring their own towels.

Umtendwe Beach Cottages is located on the Wild Coast, 90 minutes' drive north of East London, between Haga Haga and Morgan Bay. The property is accessible via 20 kilometers of dirt road, with the last 7 kilometers being a farm road. While a standard vehicle is usually suitable, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended in rainy conditions. One of the units is wheelchair accessible, and a house cleaner is available at an additional cost of R60 per day.
