The Umzimkulu River Marina is situated on the south bank of the Umzimkulu River, which flows through the town of Port Shepstone. It features five self-contained units with three to four beds each, and all units open out onto a grass embankment that is right on the edge of the river. Each unit has its own verandah and braai area, or visitors can picnic anywhere on the river banks.

Fishing from the embankment is available for salmon, bream, perch, and grunter. Alternatively, the Marina offers boat trips where visitors can catch yellowtail, salmon, rock cod, and many other species. The famous Sandpit is located at the mouth of the river and can be easily accessed by boat launched at the Marina's river site, which is also a great spot for shade during the summer season.

The Marina offers a variety of activities. During the sardine run in June and July, visitors can experience this special event. For those not interested in fishing, sea safaris are available to spot dolphins, turtles, and whales in season. There is an easy launch site for visitors to bring their own boats.

Barge cruises on the river are offered as a special treat, and sunset booze cruises can be arranged. A restaurant located a few hundred meters up the river features a gorgeous deck overlooking the river, with access by road or river barge. Guests can awaken to the sound of resident fish eagles, as well as many other birds and small animals such as the tree hyrax and the leguans.

The units feature a double bed upstairs with views out over the Umzimkulu River, and downstairs includes a single bed, an open-plan lounge with TV and well-equipped kitchen, and shower/toilet. The braai area out front and secure off-street parking complete the package.
