Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge

Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge is a renowned destination for wetland and montane grassland, known for its many endemic bird species. The Farmhouse accommodates eight guests, and an adjacent quaint bedroom with an en-suite bathroom sleeps two guests. Guests can also stay in Oom Hans' Cottage, a two-bedroom, self-catering cottage without electricity but with a gas geyser, fridge, and stove. Another self-catering option is the Badenhorst Cottage, available in town.

The vast grassland area is home to various species, including all three crane species, ground woodpecker, bald ibis, blue korhaan, rudd's and botha's larks, white winged fluff tail, and the cape eagle owl. The park-like gardens and farmhouse, which has been in the family for nearly 130 years, offer a chance to experience the quietness of a bygone era. The lodge provides self-catering, bed and breakfast, or dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation options. Emma is the personal chef and housekeeper, renowned for her excellent farm-style dinners, which are a long-standing favorite among regular guests.

The separate two-bedroom self-catering Oom Hans' Cottage is located approximately 500 meters from the farmhouse and is equipped with gas appliances only. Guests at Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge are ensured complete privacy, as both the farmhouse and Oom Hans' Cottage are rented out exclusively. Whether organizing a family gathering or seeking a retreat from city lights for rest and solitude, Wakkerstroom Farm Lodge provides the perfect exclusive getaway.

The Cape Dutch style farmhouse, built in 1904, is set in a park-like garden and can accommodate ten guests. Guests at the Farm House have private access to all facilities and areas, as the lodge is rented out exclusively. It offers a perfect getaway for family gatherings or an escape from city life for rest and solitude. The rate displayed is for self-catering, but the Farmhouse can also be rented on a bed and breakfast basis at R350 per person per night or a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at R450 per person per night.
