Walkabout Estate Guest Farm is a farm stay located in a scenic and mountainous area. The farm has cows, chickens, springbuck, and sheep. Guests are permitted to roam around and experience farm life. The farm can be recommended as a base for exploring the Eastern Free State and Lesotho, with the Maluti mountains and Katse Dam being easily accessible from the nearby town of Ficksburg.

Walkabout Estate Guest Farm is a tranquil place, ideal for a relaxing getaway in a rural environment away from the hustle and bustle. Guests are encouraged to bring fishing rods and engage in catch-and-release fishing for carp.

The accommodation options at Walkabout Estate Guest Farm include a sandstone thatched cottage and a farmhouse unit. The sandstone thatched cottage is luxurious and fully equipped for self-catering, sleeping six people. It features a king-size bed in the bedroom, two single beds, and a double bed in the loft (for children). There is a full bathroom, shaded parking, an indoor fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge/freezer, a four-plate stove/oven, and a microwave. The cottage also has a sunny wooden deck with breathtaking views and a spacious thatched braai lapa (barbecue area). The setting is very private, with the cottage facing north and receiving ample sunlight during the winter.

The farmhouse unit is attached to the farmhouse and has a private entrance. It is equipped with a kitchenette suitable for self-catering and sleeps four people (one double bed and one bunk bed for children). The unit has an en-suite private bathroom with a toilet, basin, and bath. There are outdoor braai facilities on the terrace in the park-like garden. Free coffee and tea are provided, while dinner and breakfast are available by arrangement. All bedding and towels are supplied, and extra blankets and electric blankets are provided during the winter months. Guests can make arrangements with the farm for cleaning and household chores.

It is important to note that the last 3 to 4 kilometers before arriving at the farm is a gravel road, which can become slippery during rainstorms.
