Waterberg Wilderness Reserve

The Waterberg Wilderness Reserve is located on the eastern side of the Waterberg Mountain range, situated in the Limpopo province of South Africa. It is situated approximately 2.5 hours from Pretoria and 3 hours from Johannesburg, conveniently positioned halfway to Botswana. The reserve is known for its pristine and scenic natural surroundings, as well as its abundant wildlife.

The Waterberg Wilderness Reserve offers self-catering accommodation options, including Safari tents, private campsites with their own ablutions, and three campsites with shared ablutions. Each campsite is tucked away in the bush, providing tranquility and privacy. Due to the rugged terrain of the reserve, which is typical of the Waterberg region, a 4x4 vehicle or a vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended to access the property. During the wet season, a 4x4 vehicle is often essential.

The reserve features spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys, and exploring the impressive gorges with natural streams and pools is a highlight. Visitors can enjoy self-drive game viewing, hiking, picnicking, and cooling off in the natural springs. It is important to note that no supplies are available on the reserve, and it is entirely self-catering.

The accommodation options at the Waterberg Wilderness Reserve include five exclusive campsites with private ablutions and three campsites with shared ablutions (four clean bathrooms). All bathrooms have hot water showers and flushing toilets. The Safari tent accommodation features one double bed and two single beds in one room, an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a flushing toilet, and a basin. The kitchen is equipped with a gas fridge and stove, and there is a braai area and patio overlooking the spectacular gorge and surrounding hills. The Safari tents are powered by solar lights and are well-equipped with linen, crockery, cutlery, and all necessary cooking and kitchen utensils.

The tariffs for the Waterberg Wilderness Reserve are as follows: For shared ablutions, it is R175 per person per night and R87 per child per night. For private ablutions, the rate is R200 per person per night and R100 per child per night.
