Wechmarshof is an exclusive luxury retreat nestled in the picturesque Banhoek valley at the foot of Joubert's piek, within the Simonsberg Mountain range of South Africa's Western Cape. The property is strategically positioned in an area renowned for its prestigious wine estates, diverse restaurants, and stunning vistas. The valley is notable for its production of protea flowers, fynbos, and various fruits and berries that serve both local and export markets.
The estate features extensive indigenous flora that creates a natural sanctuary for diverse wildlife. Visitors can observe numerous species including springbok, steenbok, porcupine, lynx, mongoose, Cape genet, and various smaller animals, alongside an impressive variety of bird species. The property maintains a strong commitment to environmental harmony, providing guests with an authentic nature-immersive experience.
Two distinct accommodations are available on the estate. House Balderjan, which can host up to eight guests, takes its name from the wild-growing Balderjan herb, known for its strong minty characteristics and historical use in culinary and medicinal applications. House Num Num, accommodating up to four guests, is named after the Natal Plum (Carissa Grandrandiflora), featuring characteristic white blooms and edible reddish-orange fruits. This quieter setting offers walking paths, scenic views, dams, and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, all within convenient proximity to major towns and wine farms in the region.
