Weltevreden Estate

Weltevreden Estate is a historic homestead located in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands. The 18th-century residence, known as the Retief Residence, is situated in Welgevonden Boulevard at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain. It features world-renowned works of art combined with historical Cape Dutch architecture. The estate offers various facilities and amenities.

The grounds encompass accommodation, formal walled gardens that can be utilized for day functions, a wedding venue, and a restaurant. Additionally, there is a children's adventure playground, making Weltevreden Estate an ideal destination for families. The exquisitely refurbished Manor House at Weltevreden Estate offers guest accommodation at a world-class standard. It features four elevated bed chambers upstairs under a cozy thatched roof, furnished with period furniture.

For self-catering options, the estate provides a beautiful 2-bedroom farm cottage, perfect for a weekend getaway or long-term travel accommodation during a visit to the Winelands. Furthermore, a newly renovated river cottage, tastefully decorated and spacious, is situated on the edge of the river.

The on-site restaurant, Jonkershuis 1817, takes inspiration from farm produce and puts a spin on hearty and wholesome country fare. Many of the dishes are inspired by seasonal vegetables and herbs from a farmhouse kitchen. Weltevreden Estate represents one of the most beautiful, family-oriented settings for weddings and other functions, accommodating up to 120 guests.

Children of all ages are welcomed at the estate's amazing, carnival-inspired kiddies' area. Additionally, a 'Kids Carnival Package' is available upon inquiry. One of the accommodations offered is a double room with an in-room bathtub, accessible by a steep staircase.
