Wild Coast Homestays

Selborne, East London, Eastern Cape

Wild Coast Homestays offers an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the culture and tradition of the Wild Coast region. Guests are expected to be understanding and tolerant when day-to-day life differs from what they are accustomed to in their home, city, and beliefs. By embracing this approach, visitors can embark on an adventure of a lifetime and witness a passing era.

The huts are spotlessly clean and spacious, with an average diameter of approximately 8 meters. Each hut is equipped with electric lights, a 220V plug point (visitors are advised to bring their own adaptors), a washbasin, and a backup solar light and/or torch. The magic mamma (local host) will provide a modest amount of hot water in the evening. Additionally, a laundry service is available, where the magic mamma will wash the guests' clothing by hand, hang it to sun-dry, fold it neatly, and place it on the bed. Guests are encouraged to offer a fair price for this service and act with compassion.

The Wild Coast region experiences a comparatively high average rainfall, with the coastal belt receiving over 1000mm per annum. Spring rains typically appear in October, while the coolest and driest months are from July to September. December to February is considered the hottest and wettest period of the year. The accommodation rate includes all three meals, and mattresses and bedding are provided according to the number of guests. The coordinates for the location are 31u00acu221e25'33.3"S 29u00acu221e45'52.2"E.
