Wild Horses Lodge

Wild Horses Lodge is a five-star luxury retreat nestled in the foothills of the Drakensberg Escarpment, situated within the Sterkfontein Nature Reserve near Harrismith, Free State, South Africa. The lodge offers panoramic views of the majestic Platberg Mountain and Sterkfontein Dam.

The property features four exquisitely decorated suites in the main lodge, plus additional accommodation on their yacht, the Golden City. The yacht, which has a notable racing history including three Cape to Rio races, has been fully restored and is now permanently moored at Sterkfontein Dam.

The lodge caters exclusively to adults (12 years and older) and offers a range of activities including sailing, hiking, birding, horse riding, and fly fishing. Guests can also enjoy the rim-flow pool, rose garden, and private library. The facility is solar-powered, ensuring continuous operation during load shedding, and features modern amenities including TV and WiFi.

The main building comprises an accommodation wing, a dining room with an extensive terrace, a lounge, licensed bar, private library, and wine cellar. The property's grounds include a Koi pond and landscaped indigenous gardens. The dining experience offers both light lunches and gourmet three-course dinners from a set menu.

Located along the scenic Clarens Route, Wild Horses Lodge specializes in hosting special occasions including weddings, anniversaries, honeymoons, engagements, and birthdays. As a fully licensed establishment, the lodge provides a curated selection of beverages and does not permit guests to bring their own alcohol.
