Witkrans self-catering cottages are situated within The Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy, encompassing 35 hectares of pristine fynbos vegetation. The property boasts an impressive biodiversity with at least 180 indigenous plant species and is a recognized member of Birdlife SA, providing habitat for various bird species including the Knysna woodpecker, Cape sugarbird, and Orange breasted sunbird.
The property features two fully equipped self-catering accommodations. A natural stream flows along the lower boundary of the property, incorporated into a gentle circular walking trail. Guests have exclusive access to several well-marked hiking trails on the farm, including a section of the renowned Fynbos Trail. The property is also part of the Klipspringer MTB trail, which begins at the nearby Lomond Wine Farm, just a two-minute cycle away.
The location is strategically positioned near popular wedding venues De Uijlenes and Murasie, as well as Platbos, known for its beautiful indigenous forest day hikes. The property is a mere 15-minute drive from the scenic beaches of Franskraal and Stanford's Cove in De Kelders, and equidistant from both Gansbaai and Stanford towns.
Buchu Cottage, one of the accommodations, offers a private setting with two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, and an open-plan lounge kitchen area featuring mountain views. The cottage is equipped with an indoor fireplace, covered stoep with braai facilities, wood-fired hot tub, and private access to the swimming dam. The cottage can accommodate up to four guests.
