Wits End

WITS END Self Catering Chalets is a resort located in the Central Drakensberg region. It offers guests the opportunity to experience the peace and tranquility of the Drakensberg, located below the twin peaks of Champagne Castle and Cathkin in the heart of the Champagne Valley. The resort is situated in a malaria-free area and is a two-hour drive from Durban and four hours from Johannesburg, making it ideal for a weekend getaway or a longer, more leisurely stay.

The resort encourages group bookings and can arrange various recreational activities. An all-weather road provides easy access to the resort and the many amenities in the area, including fine hotels, restaurants, and golf courses, with the Champagne Sports Resort 18-hole championship course being a favorite among golfers. All chalets have magnificent mountain views and are fully equipped with stoves, microwaves, DStv, and braai (barbeque) areas.

The resort features a rock pool, a lapa with an outdoor braai (barbeque) area, a pizza oven, and a Mongolian braai, ideal for group entertaining. The private nature trails on the property are a nature lover's paradise, passing through indigenous forests and mountain grasslands with an abundance of flora and fauna. The resort's 10-acre dam, one of the largest in the area, is stocked with Natal yellow fish, allowing guests to enjoy fly fishing and canoeing.

Wits End is situated near the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, which has been awarded World Heritage status in three categories: archaeology, vegetation, and geology. This area is wonderful for hiking, swimming in clean mountain streams, and discovering unique wildflowers and San rock art. The internationally acclaimed Drakensberg Boys Choir School is also located close to Wits End, allowing guests to attend weekly term-time concerts and the school's bi-annual music festivals.

The chalets at Wits End offer the following accommodation options: two bedrooms (one queen and two singles), sleeping four people, two bathrooms with en-suite toilets and showers, a fireplace, and a braai/barbeque area. The chalets are equipped with kitchens, lock-up safes, and microwaves. The resort also features a communal pool, a lapa, and an on-site restaurant.
