Wolverfontein Karoo Cottages

Wolverfontein Karoo Cottages is a historic property situated at the foot of the Touwsberg, along the banks of the Touws River in the Western Cape, South Africa. Established in 1890, the farm is located just off Route 62 and features the iconic Moreson Manor, also known as the "Volstruis Paleis" (Ostrich Palace), which was built during the ostrich feather boom and now serves as the reception area.

The property offers two beautifully restored self-catering accommodation options: Zara Cottage and D'WaenHuis. Zara Cottage is a three-bedroom Art Deco house that accommodates up to six guests, featuring two double bedrooms and one twin room, along with a cozy lounge and an open-plan dining room kitchen. D'WaenHuis, constructed in 1880, is a converted barn with high Oregon ceilings that sleeps two guests comfortably, with additional sleeper couches suitable for children, featuring a double bedroom and an open-plan living space.

Both cottages are equipped with modern amenities while maintaining their historic charm. Each unit includes a private plunge pool, braai (barbecue) area, and uninterrupted views of the Touws River valley. The properties feature Eskom power with solar backup for lighting, power points, and WiFi during load shedding, as well as gas stoves and ovens with stovetop kettles. The location borders the Touwsberg Private Game Reserve, offering guests complimentary access for game viewing, bird watching, and hiking, with mountain bikes available for exploration. The pristine surroundings provide visitors with unprecedented access to the Klein Karoo's unique flora and fauna.
