Wolverfontein Karoo Cottages is located at the foot of the Touwsberg, on the banks of the Touws River. The farm, established in 1890, lies just off Route 62. The "Volstruis Paleis" or Ostrich Palace, built during the height of the ostrich feather boom, serves as the reception area for the two accommodation options offered: Zara Cottage and D'WaenHuis.

Zara Cottage is a fully furnished three-bedroom home that offers a tongue-in-cheek look at country living over the past five decades. It features a full gas kitchen, two bathrooms, and ample shaded outdoor space. On the other hand, guests can explore their wild side in the retro-pioneer D'WaenHuis, a fully restored farm building with high Oregon ceilings, built in 1880. D'WaenHuis is a stylish interpretation of the early South African settler trader's lifestyle, offering a one-bedroom converted barn with an open-plan kitchen and lounge area. It comfortably sleeps two guests but can accommodate two extra guests on a sleeper couch if required. Night owls can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the Milky Way from the open veld.

The property borders the Touwsberg Private Game Reserve, where guests have free access for excellent game viewing, birding, or hiking. Additionally, two spare mountain bikes are available for guests to explore the reserve by bicycle. D'Waenhuis is a self-catering unit with a double-bed room and a large open-plan dining room, lounge, and kitchen. All bedding and towels are provided, and the sleeper couches in the lounge are recommended for children only.
