Wolwedans Guest Manor stands as the oldest home in Great Brak River, Western Cape, South Africa. This historic property, which began as a farm purchased by Hercules Terblanche in 1827, has a rich heritage dating back to the pre-colonial era. Initially serving as a post house with adjacent stables, the property was later acquired by Charles Searle in 1876 and converted into company employee housing. In 1975, the three-building complex became home to the Groot Brak River Museum.
The manor has been carefully restored to modern standards while maintaining its historic charm as a local Heritage Site. Located strategically next to the Great Brak River Museum, the property offers convenient access to local amenities including shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and the historic Bolton's Shoe Factory established by the Searle family.
The accommodation options include three double en-suite rooms, a loft that accommodates up to four guests, and two tent options - a luxury tent for two guests and a safari tent for four guests. Modern amenities include a communal swimming pool, relaxation areas, a communal patio with self-catering kitchen, both private and communal braai (barbecue) facilities, extensive gardens, free WiFi, and streaming TV services. The property is particularly noted for its outdoor activities, including hiking trails and bird watching opportunities, making it an ideal destination for both short stays and extended holidays.
