Wortelfontein Guest Farm

Wortelfontein Guest Farm is situated in the bend and foothills of a horseshoe mountain range on a 4,890-hectare Karoo farm located between Hanover and Richmond in the Northern Cape province. This picturesque retreat is steeped in history and impresses visitors with its beautiful Karoo architecture.

The accommodation options include a converted stable with a double bed, an L-shaped couch suitable for children, a Victorian bathroom with a bathtub, and a corner kitchenette. Additionally, there is The Wagon House, which has been renovated to offer two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a lounge area. The main bedroom features a double bed, while the second bedroom has three bunk beds.

Guests can enjoy full farm-style breakfasts with homemade jams, and for dinner, they can savor a braai under the Karoo stars. Various activities are available on the farm, including fishing in a beautiful 15-meter deep dam, canoeing, birdwatching, hiking along various trails, and exploring 4x4 routes ranging from three-hour average routes to challenging routes in the mountains. Guests also have the opportunity to experience sheep shearing, milking cows, horse riding, and feeding lambs.

The farm operates on a solar power system, providing a respite from power outages. A tame springbuck is a regular visitor at the guest house and delights guests with its playful behavior.
