Zingela Safari & River Company

Zingela Safari & River Company is a tented camp located on the banks of the Tugela River within an 8000-hectare conservation area in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Established in 1984, the camp features stone and canvas accommodation for couples and families, with some tents offering en-suite facilities while others share communal toilet and shower facilities. The camp prides itself on offering first-class campfire cuisine, with most meals served in front of the fire in the thatched boma or under the stars.

The camp offers a range of adventure activities, including white-water rafting on the Tugela River's 30-kilometer canyon stretch, which is known for providing thrilling white water experiences. White-water rafting is available in various packages, ranging from half-day to four-day trips, using one-man kayaks, two-man crocs, and eight-man rafts, with safety being a priority and all guides trained by SARA. Abseiling opportunities are available on the rugged cliffs overlooking the Tugela canyon, with experienced guides ensuring complete safety. For those interested in exploring the area off the beaten track, the camp offers 4X4 and horse riding excursions through prime game country.

Zingela Safari & River Company caters to leisure activities as well, with guided walks, game viewing, birding, fishing, and relaxation spots available for those not interested in adventure activities. The camp is also a popular venue for special functions such as weddings, with ceremonies held on the banks of the river and receptions in the boma or under the stars.
