Zuurberg Mountain Village

The Zuurberg Mountain Village is a historical retreat situated high up on the Zuurberg Mountains. It is a tranquil and unique mountain-top retreat spanning 160 hectares of indigenous vegetation, offering breathtaking views overlooking the Addo Elephant National Park. The recently renovated historical hotel is located approximately one hour's drive from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and provides guests with an elegant lifestyle and ambience reminiscent of a bygone era.

The Zuurberg Mountain Village comprises 4 spacious family Manor Rooms and 26 Village Rooms. The family Manor Rooms can accommodate 2 adults in an en-suite twin or double room, and 2 small children on a sleeper couch in the interleading living room. These rooms feature a full en-suite bathroom, a private patio with views of the Zuurberg mountain range, and are conveniently located near the lounge, dining areas, and swimming pool. The Manor Rooms offer an opportunity to break free from busy routines and soak up the beautiful surroundings.

The Village Rooms, each with their own private patio, are arranged to provide views of both the spectacular mountains and valley. Each room can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child in a cot or on an additional single bed upon request. The Village Rooms feature black wood floors, climate control, under-floor heating in the bathroom, a freestanding bath, and an indoor and outdoor hot and cold shower.

Guests are invited to experience the tradition of excellent hospitality at the Zuurberg Mountain Village. The hotel is surrounded by the greater Addo National Park, where a range of spectacular horse-riding and hiking trails can be experienced, from beginner to advanced levels. Visitors may encounter mountain zebra, eland, kudu, bushbuck, duiker, red hartebeest, and other endemic game of the area, as well as prolific birdlife, including the Forest Weaver and Knysna Loerie. Rhinos can be viewed at Darlington Dam after a rugged 4x4 trail. The Greater Addo Park, including the Zuurberg Mountains, protects some of the last remaining vegetation of the region, ranging from indigenous riverine forests to mountain fynbos.

The hotel offers exclusive use of its facilities from 12:00 on the afternoon of a wedding until 11:00 the following morning, including the use of 30 Hotel Rooms for guests, garden, and chapel. A spa with treatment rooms is available, as well as safaris to the Addo Elephant Park, famous for its herds of elephants. Wedding packages and a chapel on the property are offered. Family rooms are available adjacent to the Hotel Main Building, furnished with genuine antiques to capture the ambiance of yesteryear, each with en-suite bathrooms and French doors leading to private patios with beautiful garden views.
