Zwakala River Retreat is situated on the banks of a fresh water stream high up in the Magoebaskloof mountains of Limpopo, South Africa. It features earthy cottages, indigenous flowers and herbs, candlelight, cozy log fires, and long river walks, offering a slower pace of life for visitors to simply enjoy and be present. The retreat has a farm venue suitable for weddings or gatherings, as well as Zwakala Brewery, a newly established craft brewery on the premises offering tours, tastings, and breathtaking views from the tasting room.

The retreat provides cozy cottages, cabins, and a private campsite, all located along the river banks. The accommodations do not have electricity, but are equipped with comforts such as crisp white linens, down duvets, strategically placed solar lights, gas stoves, and refrigerators. Old-fashioned candle light, lamps, and steaming hot water from donkey boilers, along with open log fires, create a romantic and togetherness atmosphere.

Mina's Art Cafe and Farm Venue is an original old shed and farmhouse from the early 1900s that has been renovated with a charming feel, featuring old stone reveals, stick ceilings, a large fireplace, and an old-fashioned stoep overlooking a terraced garden with grand shady trees and spectacular views of the valley. It has a fully equipped kitchen where delicious menus are prepared from the freshest ingredients. Mina's is an ideal venue for farm-style DIY weddings that are meaningful and real, and it can accommodate up to 150 guests for group celebrations and gatherings upon request.

On the farm, visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming in the river, walking, trout fishing, cycling, and observing free-range horses and abundant medicinal herbs. The area offers hiking trails, well-marked cycling routes, adventure activities, a cheese farm, indigenous forests and grasslands, quaint pubs and eateries, fresh air, and beauty everywhere. The farm also offers a beautiful old farm venue for functions and weddings of up to 150 people, with ceremonies taking place under enormous old trees in the terraced garden overlooking the valley, creating a warm, arty feel. Additionally, there is a private campsite on the banks of the Broedestroom river, which includes a kitchen, a flush toilet, and a shower, allowing visitors to go for a dip in the river and soak up the sun in absolute peace. Please note that 4x4 vehicles are required to access the campsite.
