Gastronomic Excellence in the Cape Floral Kingdom
Perched on a hillside between Stanford and Gansbaai, Schneider's Cape Floral Kitchen offers a truly extraordinary dining experience showcasing the botanical wonders of the Western Cape's fynbos. This isn't just another restaurant – it's a culinary journey through South Africa's unique Cape Floral Kingdom.
At the helm is a chef with over 50 years of cooking experience and a former Michelin star holder for more than two decades. The kitchen transforms foraged indigenous ingredients like dune spinach, wild sage, buchu, and confetti bush into meticulously crafted dishes that challenge and delight the palate.
The Experience
Diners can choose between 4-6 course tasting menus, complemented by thoughtfully selected local wines. The meal progresses at a leisurely South African pace, with unexpected surprises like amuse bouches appearing throughout.
The restaurant setting offers spectacular panoramic views of Walker Bay, making sundowner cocktails on the terrace an essential part of the experience. The contemporary interior includes local South African art (available for purchase), creating an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.
Practical Tips
- Booking is essential - the intimate space fills quickly, especially on weekends
- Operating hours: Dinner Wednesday-Saturday, Lunch Saturday-Sunday
- Allow 2-3 hours for the full dining experience
- The turn-off is approximately 100 meters on the Stanford side of where Google Maps indicates

Best visited at sunset for the magnificent views across Walker Bay. The restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps from the parking area.
This culinary destination pairs perfectly with a visit to the nearby Gansbaai for whale watching or shark cage diving, or exploring the charming village atmosphere of Stanford with its antique shops and riverside walks.
